Central Park in Fall

Storm Clouds over Updyke Farm

October's Able Skies

Canon EOS 5D, 24 mm, 1/250 sec, f 7.1, 100

In the last couple weeks, I've visited this spot (the Towpath at the Millstone Aqueduct) on 4 separate occasions hoping to finally capture this image. Several years ago, while this photoblog was just getting started, I posted an image very similar to this (in composition, at least). I always loved the image, but wanted to try my hand at it again, applying the techniques I've learned since then. I have been visiting the location every few days waiting for the conditions to be just right - nice clouds in the sky, good lighting on the trees, low wind to capture some reflection in the water, and no people around (it's a popular spot for locals). Today just happened to be the day.

For those of you wondering about this strange location, this is a towpath which allows the Delaware & Raritan Canal flow over Lake Carnegie.

I need to learn some of those techniques... I just returned from a similar "shoot" and let's just say, I've very humbled.
