Big Casino

This morning, while driving to the beach hoping to shoot a beautiful and unusual sunrise, I surveyed the sky and realized that there probably wouldn't be a beautiful or unusual sunrise. Taking this into consideration, I decided to change course and shoot at a location I had been wanting to photograph for some time - the old casino on the Asbury Park boardwalk. I know this casino has been done to death by local photographers, but I figured it was worth a shot. The processing on this image is obviously way more out there than what I usually prefer, but if there was ever a time for this sort of treatment (and I'm not sure that there is), this would be it.

Greener Pastures

This weekend I shot a wedding on a farm up in North Jersey. Before the reception, which was held in the brides parents' barn, I followed the couple through a sheep pasture with my camera, capturing images like this one.

Memorial Day Morning, Branch Creek

Genevieve and I are spending Memorial Day weekend at her parents house in Green Lane. I've been enjoying fine craft beers, helping to hang new windows in the shed, and dominating everyone in Super Mario Brothers. This morning we all went out for an early adventure and ended up down the street at Branch Creek, where the girls will often float down the river on tubes after a strong rainfall. Pictured here is Katrina, pausing in thought during a conversation with her sister.

I'm officially back in business. This morning I took my first early morning trip to the beach of the year. The weather was beautiful - air temperature was around 65 degrees. It's a great time of the year for a sunrise on the beach in New Jersey. It's not too hot, it's not too cold, and it's early enough in that season that you can still get lucky and be the only person who shows up to see it. This morning I visited Ocean Grove, and I only saw a handful of other people scattered along the beach. I ended up with a number of images that I'll post over the next week. My goal is to try and get to the beach about once a week from here on out, so stay tuned.
